I read a cool tutorial on building up a painting at Adam Ford's blog who does godly concept art. I've spent the week drawing a lot of crap and this is the only thing that shows progress. I used Ford's composition and colour scheme in that tutorial because I have no imagination.

I'm going through a bit of a cave man phase and have set myself an imaginary project. So I guess this is the generic big bad dude with an I.Q of a dried up turd. Also, Asterik's turns 50, fuck yeah.

Day 2

Slow and steady wins the race...

I tried to correct the surface to make it workable, and made some progress with it, but I felt too far gone and the quality was being compromised- so I restarted it. I'm taking it much slower this time and I'm happier with how it's developing.

Drawing Clinic

I recently purchased a DVD by Anthony Waichulis which includes basic drawing exercises. They're incredibly simple but in practice take a lot of time to perfect. I already find myself learning to control and blend better, and my concentration has also been increased - they'd be great for warm-up exercises, too. I'd recommend the DVD to any one wanting to have more control over their drawing medium (it's a bargain). I'm now ready for the final lesson which will be a basic still life. I just need to find some basic objects I can assemble together.

I also received my radial easel today along with a bunch of other art supplies. I'll edit this post with some pictures of my drawing/painting shack soon.
